Azealia Banks Continues To Slay

Even though she released one of the most interesting rap albums in 2014 and shut the mouth to everyone who called her one hit wonder because of permanent debut album delay, Azelia Banks did not manage to be in the top notch spotlight. Is it because she is born to be an underdog or because she is too wild for mainstream? Her twitter rants in which she slams divas such as Beyonce and Rihanna automatically put her in the marginalized position. On the other hand, those rants just make her original fanbase stronger. If her presence on the music scene is a constant variable, her acting out would not seem so forced. Now they just look tricky for her career because she makes her potential audience mad. It is not always profitable to play a clown.

With all the above in mind, I was happy when I heard that Azealia released her new tape. New EP with 8 fresh songs is there to remind us she still has strong potential. It is a warning: I am not gone, and I am about to comeback with sophomore record. There are few tracks that I really like on Slay Z, then there are few that I don’t care about, and only one that I don’t ever want to hear again. It’s expected that Azealia is naked on the cover of Slay Z, although I appreciate the aesthetic. Rick Ross supported her on one track. This is a milestone in Azealia’s career since she did not collaborate with big names before.

The EP is dispersed and unfinished. There are several diamonds that prove Azealia has undeniable pop potential.  Now we can only wait for her to get back on her feet and dedicate her time to music, and not to trashing others. Also, another hit as212 would not be redundant.
